Monica Gamez-Djokic
I am an incoming Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Purdue University. I received my PhD in Social Psychology from Northwestern University and my B.A. in Economics from Wellesley College.

Previously, I was an Assistant Professor in Purdue’s Department of Technology Leadership & Innovation, a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at Georgetown University, and a postdoctoral fellow in Management & Organizations at the Kellogg School of Management.

My research examines how emerging technologies—particularly artificial intelligence—reshape social perception, intergroup relations, and the traits and abilities people value in others. I study how people racialize and socially categorize AI, how AI changes prototypes of leadership and competence, and how these processes influence inequality, authority, and the future of work. A complementary line of research examines how moral beliefs, motivations, and rhetoric shape evaluations of individuals, organizations, and social causes
